Quoting sources from Beijing, Apple Daily in its front-page lead reported that Vice-President Xi Jinping and former Vice-President Zeng Qinghong backed Chief Executive election candidate Leung Chun-ying to be the next-term Chief Executive, and that the Central People’s Government supported a competent person with high popularity rating to lead HK.
